In the heart of Spain’s agricultural landscape, where time management and resource efficiency are everything, one farmer has embraced innovation to elevate his irrigation strategy. With over 700 hectares under cultivation, the implementation of iControlRemote has allowed him to monitor and manage irrigation remotely, easily, and efficiently. The result? On one of his main plots, 120 hectares of irrigated land, he relies on sprinkler systems, combining pivots (on 70 hectares) with full-field coverage. For him, the choice is obvious: “the pivot is way more convenient. It saves a ton of time and effort.”
Thanks to iControlRemote, his entire network of 15 pivots, 3 in this plot and 12 in another location, is fully connected and can be managed from his smartphone or tablet. “Everything’s linked. I start, stop, and program everything from home,” he explains.
In the past, he and his team had to be on-site almost 24/7. “Now I can go on vacation. We still keep an eye on things, especially during peak irrigation season, but iControlRemote has brought us much more peace of mind,” he says.
Carrot season begins in April and runs through November, although they harvest year-round. “With iControlRemote, you can follow everything. The alarm system alerts you of any issues. Time is precious, and this tech helps us make the most of it.”
The system was installed on existing pivots, even though they were from different manufacturers. Integration with the control panels was fast and seamless. “Just a few tweaks, and everything was up and running without a hitch.”
Alongside pivot automation, they also installed iControlPump to remotely and automatically control the pumps. “There was no point automating the pivots if I still had to drive out to start the pump. Now everything’s integrated,when the pivot turns on, the pump does too.”
